Discover the story behind the luxuriously chic French hair accessories designed by the founders of Kalon and Mauliébris, Sophie and Axelle.
On May 1st, the collaborative collection born from the fusion of Kalon’s showgirl glamour and Mauliébris chic French designs will be launched and available for purchase in the Kalon studio and on the Mauliébris website.
The hair accessories are both practical and luxurious, but they also reflect the personal and professional stories of the women behind each brand. To get more insight behind the inspiration and design process, Sophie and Axelle discussed how their mutual admiration for one another and their personal journeys resulted in the Kalon x Mauliébris collection.
Throughout your respective journeys, what led you to create your brands?
Sophie My name is Sophie Fourçans-Dibdin, and I am the co-founder and CEO of Kalon, a unique fitness concept created by dancers from the most prestigious Parisian cabarets. We developed the Kalon Barre method—a fusion of Pilates, cardio, and dance—designed to sculpt the body like a dancer’s, without needing any dance experience.
I created Kalon after several years as a dancer at the Lido de Paris while pursuing degrees in translation-interpretation and intercultural management. After my performing career, I explored various professional paths and lived for two years in the United States, where I found deep inspiration to start my own business. Upon returning to France, I decided to merge my background as a dancer with my entrepreneurial ambitions and founded Kalon. I aimed to share the cabaret dancers’ training techniques—achieving visible, lasting results—while building a community of strong, inspiring women.
Axelle I’m Axelle Raffin, the founder of Mauliébris.Before launching my own brand, I spent several years working at the prestigious House of Alexandre de Paris, where I discovered the world of luxury hair jewelry.
However, in my everyday life, I could never find hair accessories that truly reflected my style. I was searching for pieces that felt modern, feminine, and sensual, yet also elegant and effortless—accessories that Parisian women, known for their chic nonchalance, could wear every day.
This personal desire inspired me to create Mauliébris: a brand for myself and all the women around me, with accessories designed to enhance the natural beauty of the hair without making it look overly styled.
All of our pieces are handmade in France, with a commitment to quality and durability. I design accessories that can be worn, loved, and kept for years—true everyday treasures.
Why does the Kalon x Mauliébris collaboration make sense?
Axelle : When I met Sophie, the founder of Kalon, it instantly felt natural—our two universes complement each other perfectly.We share a common vision of femininity, one that’s bold, free, sensual, and refined down to the smallest detail.
Our collaboration also draws inspiration from the world of dance and cabaret, which is so central to Kalon’s identity and resonates deeply with the elegance and attention to detail we aim to embody through our accessories.
Sophie: At Kalon, our entire visual universe is rooted in our background as performers—the aesthetic is carefully crafted: red lipstick, flattering outfits, elegant jewelry, and hairstyles that echo our life on stage.When I discovered Mauliébris' pieces, I immediately fell for their refined aesthetic, exceptional quality, and the beautiful idea of hair jewelry as timeless treasures that I could imagine passing on to my daughter one day.
Kalon is all about feeling beautiful from the inside out: moving your body and nurturing your joy, while also taking care of your appearance. Contrary to what some may think, this is far from superficial!
Taking pride in your appearance changes everything—it boosts self-confidence, transforms how others see you, and, more importantly, how you see yourself. It’s not about conforming or becoming someone else; it’s about enhancing your natural self. Why shouldn’t we celebrate that?
Can you elaborate on what the collaboration entails?
Axelle Sophie and I imagined an exclusive, limited-edition capsule collection of six pieces, available only at Kalon Studio and on the Mauliébris website.
We reimagined some of our signature lines, including:
The Piercing Barrette, perfect for chic half-up styles,
The Chignon Stick, ideal for creating elegant, secure buns,
The Eyelets Mini Clips, designed to subtly secure buns and half-up hairstyles.
Inspired by Kalon’s soft, feminine, and elegant world, we chose a palette of nude, burgundy, and pink tones for the collection.
These pieces were created to be modern, versatile, and easy to wear—a tribute to the beauty of movement and graceful gestures.
The collection officially launched on May 1st.
Sophie The idea behind the collaboration was to create pieces inspired by the world of dance, featuring Kalon’s signature colors: burgundy and powder pink.
They’re designed for our clients, our team, and, of course, for ourselves!
Personally, I adore all the pieces. Because I have short hair, I don’t use the chignon stick, but I love wearing the barrette and the mini clip. They elevate any outfit!

Mauliébris and Kalon are brands created by women, for women. How does this collaboration embody that vision?
Sophie Axelle worked in consulting at McKinsey for many years before following her intuition and founding Mauliébris, driven by her passion for elegance and craftsmanship.Meanwhile, I spent years in the demanding world of dance and performance before becoming the CEO of my own company.We both know what it means to build something from scratch, to juggle countless responsibilities, and to stay resilient through challenges.
This collaboration carries special meaning: it’s the meeting of two unconventional journeys, two women who dared to transform their passions into ambitious projects serving other women.
Through Kalon and Mauliébris, we advocate for a vision of femininity that is confident, elegant, and unapologetically authentic.We believe that taking care of oneself, cultivating physical and emotional well-being, and boldly expressing one’s individuality are powerful acts.Our collaboration reflects this philosophy: enhancing women’s beauty without altering it, helping them reveal their true, radiant selves.

The collection is also inspired by the cabaret dancer universe, where every gesture is filled with instinctive grace, femininity, and elegance.
It’s a collection for anyone who enjoys refining their style, even through the simple movement of their hair—a bold and beautifully subtle statement.
What’s your favorite piece from the collection?
Axelle My favorite piece is probably the Eyelets Mini Barrette in the shade Blush Secret—a delicate, airy, luminous pink.
It’s incredibly versatile: perfect for a range of hairstyles to add a fresh, modern touch to any look.
The color is beautifully subtle and refined, adapting effortlessly from daytime styles to evening events, with a soft glow that highlights the hair without overpowering it.
Sophie It’s hard for me to choose!
My favorites are the Piercing Mini Barrette in burgundy and the Eyelets Clip in nude.
I switch between them depending on my outfit and mood!
One final word to describe this collaboration?
Axelle If I had to choose one word, it would be sisterhood.
Beyond the creative universe I already shared with Sophie, this collaboration was a true women-led experience—from designing the collection to the photoshoot and communication.
During the shoot, I was carried by an incredible atmosphere: an all-female team radiating kindness, elegance, and positive energy.
Coming from a more austere professional background in strategy consulting, where femininity often feels out of place, this experience was a breath of fresh air—an immersion into a world where grace, sensuality, and unapologetic elegance were celebrated.
It’s undoubtedly one of my most treasured memories from this collaboration: a moment of free, joyful, and sincere creation among passionate women!
